Debbie Gurley, Realtor and Broker at Miscella Real Estate for the past nine years, accepted the Chairman’s Award at the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce’s 97th Annual Charlemagne Awards Dinner Friday, February 8, 2019. At this prestigious award ceremony, many awards are also given to other local business that have contributed to St. Charles and the business community around them.
The Chairman Award is given each year to an individual who has gone above and beyond as a Board Director. The recipient displays leadership and assistance to the Board throughout the year and are selected to receive it for their hard work. Developing the marketing committee in 2018 and taking on a leading role as the Marketing Committee Chair, Debbie guided and assisted in the selection of a brand-new Chamber website that will be introduced later this year. This along with many other ways Debbie stepped up to assist Chairman of the Board, Sharon Spero, throughout the year!

On top of this award, Debbie took a role as the Chair of the St. Charles Women’s Business Council twice and previously won the L.E.A.P Award in 2015 from the Women’s Business Council of the St. Charles Chamber. The L.E.A.P award stands for Leadership, Excellence, Achievement, and Professionalism. This honor is given to one chamber member who has gone out of their way going above and beyond in helping the community and assistance to other women.
Debbie has also held many positions with the Batavia and Geneva Chamber. She’s been President of the Geneva Women in Business, as well as Geneva’s Networking Chair for countless number of years, Batavia Chamber Ambassador for the Batavia Chamber and currently an active member of all three Chambers. She routinely attends the Chamber’s women luncheons, ribbon cuttings and networking events. Other organizations that she has been active with include, Mutual Ground where she is a Board member and Chair for Fundraising for 2019. Debbie is also a past Board member for Zonta West. Debbie’s heart goes out to all of the Fox Valley greatly, she’s an ongoing avid sponsor for festivities and committees.
